What is the BIT Entrance Exam?
To pursue a Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) degree at Tribhuvan University or its affiliated colleges, passing the BIT Entrance Exam conducted by the Institute of Science and Technology (IOST) is mandatory.
To get admission to study Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) program at Tribhuvan University, students should pass the BIT entrance examination conducted by TU IOST.
The BIT Entrance Exam is a 100-mark multiple-choice test. The exam covers topics from the Grade 11 and 12 curriculum or equivalent. Candidates must choose between Mathematics or Computer Science for the 50-mark section in addition to the compulsory 50-mark English section. A minimum score of 35% is required to pass the exam.
Note: If the applicants secured equal marks in Entrance Examination; placement list will be prepared taking into account of marks secured in Mathematics/Computer subjects. If applicants have secured equal marks in these subjects, marks taken in the English subject is taken into account to prepare placment list.
BIT Entrance Exam: Pattern and Syllabus Breakdown
Group A: English (50 Marks)
- Questions will be based on the Grade 11 and 12 English curriculum.
Group B: Mathematics or Computer Science (50 Marks)
- Mathematics: Based on Grade 11 Mathematics syllabus.
- Computer Science: Based on Grade 11 and 12 Computer Science syllabus.
Candidates can choose either Mathematics or Computer Science for Group B.

Eligibility Criteria for BIT Entrance Exam
Academic Qualifications
Applicants must have completed one of the following qualifications:
- Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL) or equivalent:
- Passed with a minimum of second division.
- Studied English and at least one of Mathematics or Computer.
- Grade 12 or equivalent:
- Passed with a minimum C grade in English and at least one of Mathematics or Computer.
- Secured a minimum GPA of 1.6 in other subjects and a final CGPA of 1.8.
- A-Level:
- Passed with a minimum D grade in English and at least one of Mathematics or Computer.
- Three-year Diploma from CTEVT:
- Passed with a minimum of second division.
- Studied both English and Mathematics or Computer.
